Buggies 4 Brum – New Initiative Launches
Child poverty in Birmingham has reached crisis levels — 46% of children, over 104,000 of our residents are living in poverty. The Safe Sleep Scheme helps families with children under 5 in crisis. Current funding doesn’t cover buggy/pram costs, and many professionals working with families ask for this help and support.
In response to this issue a new initiative has been developed by Birmingham Play Care Network and Thrive Together Birmingham, working with Birmingham Forward Steps and Birmingham City Council, to repair and rehome preloved buggies and prams with families who really need them.
Buggies 4 Brum is asking people to donate their used buggy or pram to be refurbished and rehomed with families who really need it.
Double buggies and newborn prams are especially needed!
How it works:
- Pick up of your old buggy by our partners
- Storage of pre-loved awaiting refurbishment & new buggies
- Checked, repaired and cleaned by Social Enterprises — ReUsers & Newbigin
- Distribution to families via Baby Banks, Children’s Centres, Family Hubs & hostels
If you have a buggy or pram you would like to donate please contact Emma Martin at Birmingham Playcare Network: Emma@bpcn.org.uk
